Job Description

The Company

BBD is an international software solutions company helping businesses solve complex challenges through smart, scalable technology. With over 40 years of experience across industries, we combine deep technical expertise with a practical understanding of business to deliver solutions that create long-term value.

Our services span digital enablement, software engineering and solutions support, including cloud engineering, data science, product design, and managed services. From modernising legacy platforms to building new digital products, we work closely with our clients to deliver technology that is built for scale, resilience, and real-world impact.

What sets BBD apart is our people. We’ve built our reputation on hiring exceptional talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and partnering closely with clients to deliver high-quality solutions that fit their unique environments and goals.

The culture

At BBD, our culture is built around collaboration, curiosity and continuous growth. We believe great software comes from empowered teams, diverse thinking, and people who genuinely enjoy solving complex problems together.

Our environment is professional without being rigid, with a flat structure that encourages openness, knowledge sharing, and direct collaboration across teams and disciplines. You’ll work alongside talented, passionate people on meaningful projects across a range of industries and technologies.

We place a strong emphasis on personal growth and believe every BBDer should have the space, support and opportunities to shape their own career journey. Whether that means deepening technical expertise, exploring new technologies or growing leadership skills, continuous learning is part of how we work.

With hubs across multiple cities around the world, we’ve built a strong culture around distributed delivery and flexible hybrid work. Our offices are designed to support connection and collaboration, whether that’s through in-person workshops, team events, shared lunches or simply good coffee and great conversations.

Recognition also matters at BBD. We celebrate the impact our people make through peer recognition, awards, performance-based bonuses, and opportunities to take on meaningful responsibility and grow their careers.

The Role

We are looking for passionate and newly qualified grads with a Diploma / Bachelors / Honours / Masters / Doctorate degree in BSc / BEng / BCom / BIT majoring in Computer Science, Computer and Software Engineering, Information Technology or Informatics.

Passion for technology is not always wrapped up in a degree and if you have a portfolio of technology work you have completed that you can demonstrate to us you may also be considered.

If you have a vision for how software can solve daily problems, make the world around us a better place and have actually tried to do something about it then you’re definitely who we’re looking for.

As a BBD grad, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be immersed in, and have engaged with, technology / coding over and above your formal education
  • Be a newly qualified graduate at a recognised university or hold a certification from a recognised learning programme
  • Have a high academic average
  • Be passionate about building software and creatively solving issues and bug

How much can I earn as a BBD graduate?

University graduates joining the Software Engineering track in engineering and computer science fields earn a starting salary from R40 000. Business Analysis graduates earn starting salaries between R30 000 and R35 000. Exceptional academic results may be considered when offers are made.

Terms and conditions apply.

Being on BBD’s Grad Programme

The BBD Grad Programme lets you bridge the gap between what you’ve learnt at university and what you need to flourish in the industry. Successfully joining the Grad Programme means you start working on client teams from Day 1 while building your technical knowledge through various Level Ups throughout the year (and beyond!).

You’ll learn first-hand how to break and fix things, all while working hard and having fun alongside your senior mentors and peers. Our graduates tell us they learn more in their first 8 weeks at BBD than they did throughout their university studies.

When applying, don’t forget to include:

  • Your updated CV
  • A copy of your ID
  • A copy of your latest transcripts, results, or Matric certificate
  • A link to personal code projects on GitHub or similar (if you have)

Application process:

  1. Upload CV onto the BBD careers portal
  2. If the profile meets our criteria, instructions to a technical challenge will be sent to you.
  3. Once completed, the test will be reviewed through a marking process
  4. If successful, a virtual interview will be set up
  5. If successful after the interview, an offer will be made

Please note

By applying for the BBD Grad Programme, you understand, consent to, and agree that BBD may solicit a credit and criminal report from a registered credit bureau and/ or SAPS (concerning positions that require trust and honesty and/ or entail the handling of cash or finances) and may also verify your educational qualifications and employment history.
